Queenie out at night - Fishing at Newbarn Farm

google9ae923ee60002300.html
Fishing, Fishing and more Fishing.
Hello all you Anglers out there,

Just wanted to let you know our celebrity fish, 'Queenie', has come out 4 times in two weeks. She must be hungary !!

So if your personal best is less that 25lb come to Devon and stay in our Self Catering accomodation and have a go at catching large Carp.
If you're fishing at Newbarn Farm Angling Centre you will be able to compete for one of approximately 275 Carp averaging 12-15lbs. Queenie at 25lbs is a great catch.
Have a look at the photo below of Harry Clay who caught Queenie at Newbarn Farm the other day during a night fishing session, what a great catch.

Don't you wish this was you !! Well it can be. At Newbarn Farm Cottages and Angling Centre we can offer you fishing from £ 7.00 per day. We have bait and tackle for sale and hire. There are bailiffs here to help with hints tips and full instruction.

If you want real luxury then stay in one of our Self Catering cottages, within the Devon countryside, but only a few miles from Paignton, Torquay, Brixham and also Dartmoor. A week in a cottage start from £ 200.00 and guess what if you stay with us here in our fantastic Devon Angling Centre you get a guest rate for fishing. What a bargain !!

Our catch report this week was a little sparce but only because it's been a bit wet, as it has all over the country. There are lots of silver fish, Carp, Bream, Tench, Perch and other suprises coming out.

Click on the image above to see our catch report.

We would love to see you here. Come and relax in Devon and go fishing as well.

Cheers,

Richard.

Devon Fishing plus

http://selfcateringcottages.blogspot.com/google9ae923ee60002300.html

Hello everyone.

I'm sorry I'm a bit late with the catch report again, however, it is worth waiting for. The Devon Fishing fraternity have been awesome this week, with incredible fishing despite the wettest June on record.

Mind you I have been told that when it's wet the fishing's better.

I have just returned from Newbarn and its looking great.

Here's a couple of Devon fishing pictures.

However a Devon Fishing catch report I do have, are the new Pasties, Pies & Sausage Rolls
Queenie would be impressed.

Left, featuring the sausage roll, top an awesome pastie, no really this is an awesome pastie.
bottom middle the steak and kidney pie, bottom right the chicken and mushroom pie.

I have just eaten the pastie and sausage roll. they are excellent, the best pastie I have found so far for the Devon Fishing fraternity , tell me if you know of others.

As soon as I have tried the pies I will let you know.

It's a good pasties eating week

Simon

Devon fishing at selfcatering cottages

http://selfcateringcottages.blogspot.com/google9ae923ee60002300.html

Hello everyone,

I have had a little Devon fishing today and I am looking out of Badgers Holt, the second selfcatering cottage we have upgraded towards 5 star, and there is a lamb standing on his mums back, I don't know the kids of today, no sorry that's goats.

The weather is good, although Michael Fish is threatening storms today.

Hasn't put off the Devon fishing fraternaty, there was quite a bit of fishing going on when I had an early morning stroll.

I'm going to ask Darren if he can write a short piece on tackling up for beginners, I need that information if I'm ever going to progress with the Devon fishing

The selfcatering cottages are all booked

The Devon fishing is going well.

There is a whole day ahead to do nothing.

Well I might do a bit more Devon fishing, probably with no bait, I wouldn't want the fish to disturb me.

Peace and quiet is good

Regards Simon

Newbarn Farm - Devon Angling in comfort

http://selfcateringcottages.blogspot.com/google9ae923ee60002300.html

Hello,

Welcome back to Newbarn Farm's blog, the self catering cottage and angling centre in the heart of Torbay, South Devon.

Just installed are the new fishing toilets. They are complete with hot running water and flushing toilets giving our loyal Devon fishing fraternaty the best possible comfort whilst visiting us here in South Devon.

We have both Ladies and Gents toilets. See the piccy below:-

Lots of visiting anglers comment on what great facilities we have here. Obviously we are pleased that they are happy as we pride ourselves on giving a good visitor experience. Come and have a look and we can show you around the fishing lakes, the other facilities and the 8 Self Catering Cottages.

On that note we have added another newly refurbished cottage to the other 7 self catering cottages, all of which are available for those who wish to come to Devon fishing. We stayed in it for two nights to test it out and didn't want to leave. Have a look:-

Don't forget that if you come to us in South Devon and stay at our Self Catering Cottages you get a concessionary rate for fishing. If you come in a group we will help organise angling matches for you and even supply a trophy to the winner.

Hope to see you soon,

Richard.

Some more news

Dave has been manufacturing a chicken coup

(when I first saw that, I thought it said chicken soup, obviously not planning on keeping the chickens long, should have gone to Specsavers)

so we will soon be offering fresh eggs.

He has also refurbished the outside of the Water Shed and Log Shed in a rural design, to keep them the same as the surrounding areas. They look great!

Darren has been contacting interested Devon parties regarding fishing days and corporate angling and team building events.

We have road tested some new pasties and pies, which I think is more to do with Richards twisted knee, you know how out of balance you can get when your carrying a bit of weight.

They are delicious and we hope we can give you a Devon / Newbarn Farm cottages and angling centre Pasty to delight, They can also offer bread and cakes etc so we will also have a celebrity cake as well, Catherine is road testing these at the moment," must get some more crutches".

Richard and Catherine organised a 50th Birthday party, which went very well. The 6 people attending the celebration had Devon bacon sandwiches to start, with tea and coffee on offer all day, all tackle etc was supplied and they had their fishing on Island pool. This pool was temporarily closed to the other anglers. At lunchtime they enjoyed the pasties and accompanying grub. More teas and coffees, lots more fishing and then home. Several promises to return were made on departure.

Richard gave the birthday girl some Devon Clotted Cream Fudge, "must remember crutches for the guests", and a birthday card from everyone at Newbarn Farm who were involved in the day.

The lady anglers are all commenting on the greatly improved toilet facilities, as have a lot of the gentlemen fisherman. They are a great success!!

Our license to sell alcoholic beverages is imminent, should be with us by the end of the month. But we are at the mercy of Torbay Council.

It is our plan to offer Devon wine, cider and beer and we hope everyone will enjoy the local tipples.

The old quarry area has been cleared now, it needs landscaping and then we plan to turn it into the reading / quiet area. It has a great view over Island, Rosie and Lulu Pools and not a bad view towards Willow and Mirror Lakes.

So you can get your large glass of Devon Cider, a nice book on Carp fishing in Devon, relax and fall asleep, recharge you batteries for your next hectic day at Newbarn farm cottages and angling centre.

Darren was not impressed as he hasn't ever had a bream out of Willow.

So here are some first time fishing pictures from Devon

Any ladies who want to do Devon fishing, come to Newbarn farm cottages and angling centre, Darren and Dan would be pleased to show you everything you need to know about Devon fishing, don't worry everyone had to go fishing for the first time.

How are you, I've got the catch report for last week, bit late I know, but you know what life in Devon is like, layed back, cool and calm, or maybe it is because Richard has twisted his knee and is on crutches.

Self catering cottages and fishing in Devon

A very good day to one and all.

I am playing about with RSS feeds at the moment, so if you see any spurious codes in the blog I apologize, I am having some trouble understanding the "simple instructions"

I though you might like to see some pictures of Qeeny in this blog, she is one of our favourites and very popular with all our visitors

Matt has added a few remarks to the picture, thanks for that Mike.

Thought I would send you a picture of me with the famous Queeny last week. She took me over an hour to land after being snagged under a tree from hut 1, but my patience paid off. Allways a pleasure fishing with you at New Barn I will be back soon. P.S. she weighed just over 25 pound.
Tight lines

Matt Harding Dartmouth

Another picture of Queeny, caught by Jonny

A superb example of angling skills, you will note that Jonny caught Queeny whilst she was swimming in the other direction, to provide us a view if her left hand side.

Fishing's good
