Flourishing Flowers & Devon Fishing in abundance

Somewhere amongst this beautiful display of wild bluebells there is a small pond which is a haven for frogs, newts, countless dragonflies and so much more! This is the copse here at Newbarn Farm, home to an active Badger set, rabbit warrens, weasels and a walk through for our resident foxes. Fortunately for the wildlife there are no fish swarming these waters, but not so for the angler fishing in Devon. What a beautiful tranquil setting this would make for a spot of quality coarse fishing. But we won't change it, we don't need to, as we have six lakes/ponds dedicated to the art of coarse fishing for our fishing in Devon regulars and for the angler here on a Devon Fishing Holiday. Willow lake our match lake is pictured below.

And below is Mirror Lake, our specimen lake, for some quality specimen fishing in Devon:

For those here on holiday who really don't want to fish or indeed are not interested in fishing there is plenty to do in the local area, as we are so very close to the English Riviera with countless activities to occupy you, whether it is lazing on the sandy beaches are visiting places of interest on your Devon holiday without fishing. If you don't fancy a day out you could just simply take a stroll through our 42 acres of pasture and woodland and perhaps take in some of the vista that makes Newbarn Farm so special and unique. Maybe a rrip to the copse to see for yourself the natural beauty of an untamed woodland, and on route smell the aroma of the wild flowers which bloom in abundance!

So all in all Newbarn Farm is a great location for your self-catering cottage and fishing. The beauty not only reserved for the woodland, pasture and lakes but in the sense that we cater fo those who love fishing in Devon, for those who want a Devon Fishing Holiday but equally for those who don't give a diddle about fishing but just want a great Holiday location!

But for everyone, absolutely free is the spectacular panoramic sight of the sun setting over the far reaching tors of Dartmoor. It literally takes your breath away!
Priceless!

Sunny Hazy Days - Relax on the Beach - Relax whilst Fishing in Devon

This is Blackpool Sands probably one of the best places to sun yourself on the southern coast of Devon. This last week has seen some wonderful May weather with temperatures reaching as high as 27 degrees centigrade here at Newbarn Farm. Whether it be sunning yourself on the beach or soaking up the tranquil & peaceful rays whilst on a Devon Fishing Holiday, Newbarn Farm can offer you both and so much more!

Stay in one of our luxury 4 STAR self-catering Cottage (& Fishing) - (we can cater for parties as little as one and as large as 35) and then the choice is yours.

Spend the full day fishing on Mirror Lake, probably one of the best specimen Fishing in Devon lakes around and you could be rewarded with Queenie pictured below.

Or a quick dash in the car and you and your family could be enjoying the delights of Goodrington, a long sandy beach, very popular with families with easy access. A wide range of leisure options including the Quay West Water Park. Excellent and safe sunbathing and water sport choices with seaside awards. Plenty of beach shops, pub, w/cs, deckchair & sunlounger hire and boat hire. All just 2 miles away! Pictured below!

Back at Newbarn Farm, a great Devon Fishing Holiday location, after a day relaxing on the beach with the family why not brandish your rods and make your way to the lakes for a spot of fishing whilst everyone else showers and changes ready for that barbie and cold beer. No doubt you will join them later, after you have managed to bag a chappie like Casper here!

Great Holiday Cottages & Fishing with a host of sandy beaches nearby. Want something a little different. Travel 3o minutes in the car and you will reach Blackpool Sands - the most wonderful unspoilt beach around. Privately owned, beautifully kept (cleaned daily), sand pits and bathing raft, Venus Cafe for all meals and even refreshing showers. Never over-crowded as once the private car park is full, that's it no one alse is allowed in! Catch the morning sun and guarantee a place on this fabulous beach. Yes you do need to pay to park - but it's worth it!

Fishing in Devon at Newbarn Farm has never been so good!

This is Queenie, our celebrity Mirror carp. She was reeled in by Dave Whitfield from Bath last Sunday much to his delight! Queenie as you can see is in great condition and weighed in at 26lb 4oz. Dave also caught two commons 14lb and 12lb fishing from Hut 6 on the banks of Mirror Lake. Ignore the date on the catch photo, his young grandson had been playing with his camera!

Last week saw a record catch of 957lb 6oz being caught here at Newbarn Farm, a great Devon Fishing Holiday location. Most came out of Mirror Lake, but a few came out of Island and Rosie. For Jonny Davis from Paignton, sweetcorn in the margins rewarded him with three carp caught from our new hut 11. Anglea Graham caught a 22lb 11oz Common which was not bad for her first time fishing whilst on holiday here at Newbarn Farm, proving to be a great Devon Fishing Holiday.

Darren Watt from Brixham, one of our regular chappies pulled out a beautiful Common Carp not recorded before, weighing in at 23lb 6oz he aptly named her 'The Big C', other fish caught by Darren on Sunday were all Mirror Carp - 19lb 4oz, 18lb 2oz, 18lb 4oz, 17lb 40z and 17lb.

Unfortunately for Mr Taylor and his friend who turned up on Thursday 1st May for a weekend of quality fishing in Devon - not a bite. Naturally they were not too happy and complained to anyone who would listen. Adrian Bailey and his friends who were also staying on the banks of Mirror (a get together before Adrian renewed his wedding vows after 25 years of marriage) put us striaght when he reported that no wonder why the guys weren't catching - they couldn't even be bothered to have any rods in the water!!

So all in all some fantastic fishing in Devon here at Newbarn Farm and for some a memorable Devon Fishing Holiday!
