The geep, a woolly jumper

In the papers this weekend you may have read about Lisa the 'Geep', born only a few weeks ago after an unscheduled amorous encounter on a farm in Germany. One of the farmer's young billy goats leapt over a fence and had a passionate liaison with a ewe. The result was Lisa resembling a lamb in shape and stature, but with the colouring an agile back legs of a goat. Professor Karl-Heinz Waldmann said ' These whims of nature are extremely rare, but goats are known for their-strong sex drive.'

Here at Newbarn Farm eight ewes in the last 24 hours have produced their offspring - all healthy and all 100% lamb - no geeps here I'm afraid! We're not fishing for national media coverage here in Devon as we have nothing unusual happening with our flock. However, we wouldn't mind a little exposure to let the world know about our beautiful holiday cottages & fishing facilities.

But plenty of you do and plenty will be seeing these lambs grow alongside their many cousins who will be making their debut into the world over the next few weeks. Frolicking and skipping amongst the clover, these early lambs are symbolic that Spring is truly on it's way. And what better than sitting at the water's edge on your Devon Fishing Holiday with rod in hand, lambs playing tag in the meadows scattered with golden daffodils.
